Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October 2016, and she was able getting noticed. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. The 21st day of July, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen included her in Elephant Eyes' track Sweat It Out. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to collaborate in conjunction with Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held by Dreamville Records on 8 December. She made an appearance on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she went on to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video followed by a music video in September. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November, 13, she released two additional singles titled One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. This track, which was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times in the first 7 days. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
